Tatjana Mai-Wyss is a Swiss-American author-illustrator and designer with over 25 years of experience in children’s books, hand-drawn illustrations, and patterns. She has illustrated more than 30 books for children and her artwork has been published in books and magazines in the US and Europe.

Tatjana’s work is known for diverse, engaging characters, loving attention to detail, and a joyful color palette. Based in traditional media, Tatjana uses watercolor, gouache and colored pencils to create detailed illustrations with friendly characters, soft shapes and luminous color.

Her work is informed and inspired by her Swiss childhood, folk art, fairy tales, travels, vintage children’s books and ephemera, dreams of the ocean, and a love of nature and time-worn surfaces.

Tatjana lives in South Carolina with her family and spends her time looking over fences and under mushrooms.
